What resuming does, which depends on how the request was interrupted.

CALL_MODEL = 'call_model'

it ends in a user or internal message, in tool results that are all there, or in a step the provider paused. Nothing is added.

Type:

The history is ready for the next model call

RECOVER_TOOLS = 'recover_tools'

An assistant message asked for tools and not every call has a result, because the process stopped while they ran. Each missing result is added, saying that the tool was interrupted and may or may not have run, and the model decides what to do. A tool is never run again on its own, because nothing says whether its effect already happened.

RETRY_RESPONSE = 'retry_response'

A response was cut off by a failure, not by the model. It stays in the history, and a message is added telling the model it was interrupted and to start that response again.

CONTINUE_RESPONSE = 'continue_response'

A response reached the output limit. It stays in the history, and a message is added telling the model to continue where it stopped.
